Exclusive Interview with "Veiled With Love"

February 22, 2012

I’m super excited about this interview with Noha Hassan the CEO/Stylist of Veiled With Love, a modest company based in New York, USA. She sells hijabs, jewelry, and in March her new clothing line will be out.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Noha Hassan and I'm an English major with a lot of soul and way too many shoes. I'm a free spirit, and if I could sum up my personality, I would have to say that you could never get a book long enough or a cup of coffee large enough to suit me. I'm a complete optimist and I have a great deal of difficulty staying grounded. I'm a writer, and in the process of completing my first novel which i hope to get published. Most importantly, I am a Muslim female living in New York City, the most wonderful city in the world, but one of the most fashion-diverse cities as well. I have fallen in love with the fashion world and have always dreamed of having my own clothing line that would suit veiled women all over the world.

When did you decide you wanted to become a fashion designer?
I think of myself as a stylist rather than a designer. I think that having style is about how you put certain items together, rather than creating them. To me it's a lot simpler to create a beautiful piece, but without any idea on how to wear it or what to play it up with, you're lost. It's difficult to maintain modesty and style, and this struggle has always driven me to have my own line, it just took a little bit of believing in myself :).

How would you describe your style?
There definitely isn't a single word to describe my style. I'm definitely very girly and chic/romantic. I like to stick bold pieces into my wardrobe, but I definitely don't like pieces with too much going on. I LIVE for high waist pants; I think they are a hijabi's best friend. I accessorize a great deal and I believe that statement jewelry is the perfect way to make an outfit your own.

What or who inspired you to start Veiled With Love? What do you wish to accomplish with Veiled With Love?
I had been seeing loads of different websites that featured clothing for women who wear the hijab, but none of these sites matched my style. I would listen to all my friends complain about how the can't find an outfit that is hijab-friendly and still chic.  We all know how difficult it is to find the perfect scarf in the perfect shade and perfect size, and that's why I have founded Veiled With Love. A beautiful silk scarf or a soft cotton scarf can be the finishing touch to your own style. I would just like to point out that although Veiled With Love was inspired by my hijab and focused toward assisting women who wear hijab (hi·jab/hijäb/Noun; A head covering worn in public by some Muslim women) maintain their sense of style, this line is friendly to all women who favor a bold scarf or piece of jewelry to complete their look.

What is in the future for Veiled With Love?
Well right now we are an online store, we are working on expanding very soon and God Willing in the future we hope to open up a store.

What advice would give to people who wish to follow your footsteps?
Believe in yourself. I know it sounds cliché, but all our dreams are inside us and we just need someone to tell us that we can do it. Don't be afraid to go against the grain. Do what you love no matter what the price.

How can we purchase your designs?
Our clothing collection will be released this Spring. All of our pieces are available on www.veiledwithlove.com and a few special promotions go on our Facebook fan page, so make sure you like us on facebook at www.facebook.com/veiledwithlove to keep up with these special deals and news!
